How to Change Pictures to Different Folders in Facebook
-
I have a Galaxy s4, and whenever I go to upload a photo as a comment on a facebook post, it automatically goes to camera roll. Having thousands of pictures in all different folders this is very frustrating. Is there any way to switch it so that when I go to upload it allows me to choose from my folders?

Try swiping in from the left edge to bring back a vertical grey folder list. Not sure if that works in Facebook.

it doesn't

So it doesn't give you a choice to go to Gallery rather than photos.
Looking again, if you open Gallery and it's in All view (drop down) you can't.
My Gallery opens in Album view by default. If I then open the Camera folder I can drag the folders in from the left.
Do you switch from All to Albums to post what you want?01-07-2015 01:40 PM

No, I have never even noticed I can switch the gallery settings. Normally when I want to post a specific picture right to my facebook I just share it from the picture. My problem is when I go to leave a picture as a comment. It goes right to camera roll.

I can't help more on that one.
I had a look at Facebook help without signing in. Do you think it is an issue with the phone, as it worked differently before. Do you want to start with selecting the image and then be able to post it as a comment. Can you go an extra step and go from camera roll to folders, or you cannot post anything in comments. I don't know these.
This is a question for regular Facebook and Samsung users.
Post again after this post phrasing the precise question and it will attract more viewers. Also try asking in Android Central Community - General Help and How To as well as Introductions (where more site Ambassadors respond).
Also use the Samsung S4 forum, I searched there but too many threads include Facebook!

Was having a similar problem and only way I have found so far is to move the Photo I want to share onto Camera Roll, a pain but it works.
1/ Save original photo to Dropbox
2/ From Dropbox export to device
3/ Location is Internal Storage/DCIM/CameraThen it will be in your camera roll to share on Facebook.
If you have some other application to just move files between locations on your device, you may be able to skip the Dropbox part. (File Explorer?)

I second your question.
It is a PITA to post a picture as a comment ou a post when using the Facebook app. You click the camera icon and it goes to the Camera Roll, which has ALL pictures from ALL your folders in a straight row display which can feature gazillions of images in no understable order, and doesn't matter at all if your pictures are separated by folder, Camera Roll disregards that.
And there is NO option to change the folder you're browsing on. It is always Camera Roll and you have no way to change the source folder. Or there is?
Anybody knows how to change the folder (or browse) of the picture to be posted from within the Facebook app?

The app only uses camera roll in comments so you only get the camera roll random order rubbish.
However if you use m.facebook.com from your browser you can select whichever folders you like & use gallery (which the app would do if the devs hadn't stopped you doing it)04-23-2016 10:52 AM

I am also having same problem with my Note 5 (see attached). FB takes me Gallery which was with no option albums/folders to choose. Instead showing all hundreds of photos from recently to oldest with time consuming. There was no problem using Note 4 last year, but with current note 5 this year. Viber and WeChat was still good with option of albums/folders to choose.

Have you found the solution?

There is no actual solution because this isn't an Android problem, but rather Facebook's app. Instead of calling up the gallery app like it used to when uploading something, the Facebook app creates it's own 'gallery' which comprises the camera roll. This can't be fixed external to the Facebook app because it's how the app itself was coded. You'd have to take it up with Facebook. A comparison would be how Twitter implemented the camera toll. They have a button which opens the Android document gallery which allows you to view the pics by folder. Instagram also has a camera roll and folder recognition.
A work around is to post something directly from gallery. Go to Gallery>Album/folder you want>picture you wish to post>select SHARE>then Facebook.

I have tried this approach and as soon as I select facebook as the share, facebook app will load and then immediately close. I will then open the facebook app to see if it's loaded and waiting for me to press the post button but it's not, it's like nothing ever happened. Not sure if this is due to some recent update but it's driving me nuts. I know I can access images though the facebook app but I have a lot of pics on my phone and since it doesn't recognize the folders and lumps everything together it will almost lock up the app while rendering all of the thumbnails and then I have to scroll through all of my images to find the one I'm looking for.

Nothing we can do other than maybe use the browser. It's Facebook's problem. Before when adding pictures it used to open the gallery app. Then one day they decided to implement camera roll. The backlash was negative in the Facebook beta program, but they still went ahead with it. Makes me think the guys developing Facebook for Android is a bunch of id10ts. Who ignores the feedback from beta? That's the reason for beta in the first place.

HELLO ALL, I just signed up, to tell you I found the solution....
Christina here,
I am so so so happy, finding your forum was the very FIRST time I have even heard Anyone with an even similar issue to mine,, despite trying to look for this answer over and over, BUT, because I was looking for how to upload my own pictures into Marketplace ad listings, all it would wind up giving me was posts on HOW to sell on Marketplace, not how to access my ACTUAL camera storage & not some RANDOM Mish mash of photos....
UNTIL NOW....
TRYING to break into selling on Marketplace from years on eBay, if I needed to access previously taken photos this was a PITB... (I don't swear, but I think you get my drift) my issue was always with items I had already pictured and had saved in my phone or my Google photos account, yet I could NEVER access them on the Facebook app....
TILL TODAY!!
YAY
I was so happy to find that even one other person had mentioned something CLOSE to my issue.... SO, I read ALL of the replies and started getting discouraged, AS USUAL, NO FIX or solution...
But I kept reading, in hopes! And, THEN, read CHANCHAN05, (major props, man)! And, he suggested maybe just trying out in the browser... & although he didn't offer it as an absolute, diffinitive solution I decided to try this!
Because, knowing how I do the difference of using full-sized, desktop versions of web pages on any Android, esp my S8+, lol, although a bit difficult to navigate, oftentimes gives me so MUCH MORE capabalities instead of using mobile adapted pages, desktop ALWAYS increases the usability of web pages than those that get adapted for mobile....
And, since I was EXTREMELY hopeful, given my knowledge, I JUST HAD NOT THOUGHT OF IT UNTIL IT WAS MENTIONED...Guess what, ChanChan.....?
Cha-ching, you da man (or woMAN) LOL
SO, I am so ecstatic add all get out, because it 100% MOST DEFINITELY works...
I'm ecstatic now I can sell on Marketplace on Facebook without having to go through multiple multiple steps to get pictures into that gallery on Facebook and I would do all kinds of stuff I would upload & share them privately to MYSELF on my Facebook app, & on and on to no avail and none of it it would work anyway....
So needless to say I'm extremely ecstatic thank you thank you thank you and if you can't tell I am one extremely happy happy camper so thank you Android Central and I WILL be back, because(My new signature, tag line, gonna copyright this, FOR REAL)
I am an Android FAN....

Here's what I got, ALL MY FILES are accessible, drive, Google pictures, my phone storage, ANYTHING.... BY NOW, I G2G, distracted again....
(ANYBODY it there know what it's like to have adult ADD)?
Anyway, goodbye & thx!Attached Thumbnails
